Ok well thing stopped bein’ so lucky. We thought maybe might find an old generator
or something to use as a power source, besides the solar, but it looks like this was
built with outside infrastructure in mind. Which seems obvious now and of course there
isn’t. Theres an old hydrocarbon engine that probably once made power as a back up, but
not only do we not have ANY kinda “fuel” for that, its ceased up to hell. Probably for
the best anyway. Those things are like a beast of their own to keep goin’.
So we’re back to makin the solar rig bigger, maybe try to make some small scale wind
farms too, but for that we need storage, an I ain’t sure we’ll find the mats to make our
kinda batts. I’m lookin into other things from the old wiki’s, but ma’ head is not made
to be siftin through that kinda info. Thats more a Winter thing.
Speakin of, she says a lota the infrastructures still there, most of it was built to
last and the smaller parts she things she can replace pretty easily. It’ll take time
and a lotta fault findin’ but theres movement ya know?
In terms of resources, we got a nearby river, just down from the hill peak down in
a valley, so we got a fresh water source at least. Its a bit of a trek, but doable there
and back in a day.
We’ll have to worry about food later though, ration packs we bought should last us at
least a year if we’re careful.Then hopefully at that point we might be able to call for
a sneaky drop or figure something else out. Winter thinks we shouldn’t bring anyone into
the mix, not until we got a better rep, but I know theres at least a coupla people who’d
be willing to try. Anyhow thats fur’ later as I said.
Course theres the old fashioned way… grow some stuff. I bought some seeds, mostly as
a lil nod to the settlers of old, who would carry bags of seeds in the hope that they
could start a new elsewhere. And sure, we ain’t got sacks, barely even a pocket full,
but theres only two of us and we got modern science on our side.
Still, takes time and effort and depends on environment and such, we don’t even
know what all the seasons here are gonna look like.
